What is VDC in electrical engineering?
Virtual Design and Construction is the practice of building and coordinating a complete digital model of the work before it is installed. For electrical scope that means modeling distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm in Revit and resolving conflicts against the other trades in the model rather than in the field.
What is the difference between BIM and VDC?
BIM refers to the model and the information in it. VDC is the broader process of using that model to plan and coordinate the actual construction, including clash resolution, sequencing, and prefabrication. A model on its own is BIM; using it to change how the job gets built is VDC.
Do you deliver the Revit model to the contractor?
Yes. The coordinated model is delivered alongside the drawing set, so the coordination work carries into construction and supports prefabrication rather than ending when the permit set is issued.
