The challenge
A new 588,000-square-foot packaging plant with heavy process loads and continuous operation. One of the harder pieces was a change in the utility company's requirements for the three 4,000A, 100%-rated services feeding the building.
What we did
We engineered three 4,000A, 100%-rated 480V services, and coordinated all feeder conduit in BIM to keep it routed high and outside the ESFR sprinkler clearances. High-bay lighting was designed to hit the required levels under tall ceilings, with individual occupancy-sensor control to manage energy.
One more detail
The facility includes an interior rail line running into the building, allowing train cars to be unloaded inside.
